Cool Connections Program
Cool Connections, is a six-week, in-school program for students between 8 and 12 years of age. It aims to increase self-esteem, build confidence and help children identify positive qualities about themselves – unearthing their own ‘superpowers’.
Cool Connections is based on sound educational theory, with a significant art component that keeps learning fun and engaging for the young participants. The program was successfully piloted at three local schools in 2016, with teachers reporting strong improvements in students’ self-esteem, confidence and classroom behaviour. Cool Connections is now run at three Central Coast schools each term.
The program involves weekly 1.5 hour sessions, run during school hours. It is suitable for all children, including those quieter kids who sometimes struggle to connect with what’s unique and special about them.
Life Connections Group Program
This program aims to educate individuals to become more aware of their inner resources and build resilience – the ability to withstand stress and catastrophe.
Resilient people are able to apply their skills and strengths to cope and recover from problems and challenges, which may include job loss, illness, financial problems, medical emergencies, divorce or the death of a loved one.
Themes covered in this program include needs, goal-setting, relationships, self-esteem and optimism. Participants gather practical tools to help them bounce back quickly from setbacks, and to feel more connected with themselves, their families and the wider community.
Life Connections is run over a 6-week period with 2.5-hour weekly sessions and is suitable for any adult age group.
