Inaugural CBWN Women’s Resilience Awards a success

Central Coast women recognised at Resilience Awards

The inaugural 2019 CBWN Women’s Resilience Awards were presented during a gala luncheon at at Club Toukley RSL on March 6.

Sponsored by Unity Bank, the awards are intended for Central Coast women who deserve to be recognised for their courage and strength in challenging times. These are women who have demonstrated resilience – the ability to ‘bounce back’ effectively from tragedy, trauma and other significant setbacks. Resilient people do not let adversity define them, instead drawing on their inner strengths to return to productive lives that positively impact the community.

Federal Member for Dobell Emma McBride was on hand to open proceedings and share her reflections on the strength of Central Coast women. Following a delicious two-course meal, Carol Lenthall was very surprised and visibly touched to be named our 2019 honouree. Judge Sally Jope noted that the assessment panel had great difficulty choosing from the seven local women nominated.  MC Mandy Coolen, 2GO-FM breakfast presenter, introduced the nominees and shared their tips for navigating life’s rough patches.

Nominations for these the awards came from members of Community and Business Women’s Network. CBWN is a unique opportunity for Central Coast women to connect, find inspiration and share ideas at relaxed monthly gatherings and online. Many CBWN members live or work independently, which can make networking a challenge and can create a sense of isolation. No similar enterprise is currently operating on the Central Coast. Iris Foundation would like to thank event sponsor Unity Bank, host Club Toukey RSL and all our nominees and guests for contributing to a fun and inspirational afternoon.
